A Babymaker

Yeah, you'd have quit your day job too.
Still loving this job.

Answer to below: Unfortunately, D. However, the question wasn't properly posed. The events were spread out over three mornings, rather than all occurring on the same day. Thank goodness for small favors.

Shower Improv

During this "break week", can you guess which of the following greeted me upon exiting the shower:

A. A child snacking from an open, but uncooked, bag of microwave popcorn; or

B. A child holding his poopy underwear with excrement-smeared legs; or

C. A knock from a repairman who had arrived 40 minutes early; or

D. All of the above.

Extra credit: What's the worse thing you've ever encountered fresh out of the shower?

The Biggest Birthday Party Ever (Dan Also Calls It the Most Relaxing One We've Ever Thrown)

The dynamic duo of Owen and Nate had a super-combined birthday party. It was a:

Ball-throwing;

Wall-walking;

Astroblaster-pinning;

Baby-holding;

Lunch-eating;

ATV-riding;

Trike-racing, hoop-tossing;

Rocket-launching, moon-landing;

sort of party. Great fun. Hooray for four-year-olds!

On Nate's real birthday the next week, we had a simple family dinner with cake. Actually cupcakes, because that was Nate's request--"I think everyone will like cupcakes." He specifically wanted an ATV on his cupcake, with everyone else just having a plain cupcake.

Unfortunately ATVs are hard to find, so the three-wheeled Harley had to do. Nate was heartbroken that his birthday cupcake didn't match up with his expectations. But he got over it . . . eventually.

Pink Is My Favorite Color . . .

EXCEPT when it's in these peepers.

Another battle has begun with my arch nemesis. As of today, only two of my soldiers are out with conjunctivitis. Wish me luck on the battleground. Our opponents also include double ear infections and a sinus infection. Good times.

(I know Pete's eyes look great since I cleaned out the morning gook, but Nate had already been on drops for two days. I should have taken his picture the first day; it looked like he had green worms lying in his eyes. But it was too, too sad.)

Whew!

So here's the long and dirty.

Valerie and her family moved out here just in time to celebrate Owen's birthday on the 23rd.

Gabe "conducted" a reading of his first published book (the $18 first grade compilation that I almost, whew, wipe backhand across forehead, didn't want to waste the money on), while Owen waited patiently to open his presents.

Apparently Nate doesn't approve of the chocolate cake. Whose kid is he?

Kristin et. al., arrived the 26th, and since Nate's birthday is only 11 days after Owen's, we had a combined party for the two on the 28th. Combined as in also combined themes. It was a Buzz Lightyear, Wall-e, ATV and lunch birthday party. With 16 adults, 19 kids under 8, and 5 babies under 1. Whew!

The Minnesotans thoroughly enjoyed the sunny 70s with no wind.
Perfect day left only a few pink cheeks.

More pictures and party details to follow.

To occupy the kids during the week, we took 10 little boys and 1 baby girl bowling on dollar Monday.

We had more bowling balls than everyone else (hee hee).
All fingers were accounted for. Whew!

The first-graders, Caleb and Gabe.

We jumped and bounced with 13 cousins (only two girls!).
No elbows were dislocated. Whew!

Most of the cousins.
I'm thinking Anne will have a lot of girls wanting to be her friend at BYU when they see all her boy cousins!

Jake and Caleb going down; Owen going up.

Gabe

Jake

Nate

Dan and Sam are happy to see me.

Watch out Walmart restroom lady! I'll mess you up!
Good thing I didn't run into her. Whew!

Thursday was our last day altogether.

We turned the boys loose on the dome climber.
No skulls were fractured. Whew!

We played legos. None were swallowed. Whew!

We visited old friends and found a girlfriend for Pete,
although no rings were exchanged. Whew!

We celebrated a daughter. Whew!!!

We got all the kids to bed and snuck out to Dairy Queen.
No calories were counted. Whew!

*And that other thing? April Fool's! WHEE-EW!

Cousins!!!

Cousins are here!!! Must charge camera and take it everywhere!!!

Grace 4 months, Pete 7 months.
I know, I know. Pete is a B.O.U.S.
(Baby Of Unusual Size)
Good thing for Grace he's not yet rolling over.

Busy, busy, busy. More to come.

Don't be alarmed by the monthly countdown of my posts. I fully intend April to have more than two posts. Even if I am pregnant.
